The Cove and Island Swim
30 of our youngest campers swam the ¼ mile swim from Matoaka Cove to Camp this week. While 21 of our oldest campers swam the 2-mile swim from the middle of the lake, in what was the fastest swim ever on record. The last swimmers were out of the water in an hour and ten minutes!
Pink Plate Special
On this special day, our campers walk out of the Dining Hall to receive a hand-written note from a counselor. The note could say “I’ll braid your hair” or “I’ll take you on a jet ski ride” or “I look forward to having ice cream with you on the fishing boat” or “Can’t wait to take you on a golf cart ride”. The girls have one-week to redeem their Pink Plate Special!
Buddy Day
As campers walk out of the Dining Hall, they receive a name of a camper who becomes their “buddy” for the day. Campers will send their buddy clues throughout the day to help them guess who you are. Campers who have not guessed their buddy by dinner time will meet at the flagpole before flag lowering to find out who their buddy is!
Olympics
The girls spent an afternoon at the Messalonskee High School track where they participated in dashes, hurdles, field events and relays. This event was followed a few days later by what many have called the highlight of Olympics. The Junior girls participated in an Artistic Dance competition. The Inter girls swept camp away with their rendition of Rhythmic Gymnastics. And the Seniors and Queens were the highlight of the afternoon in their swim caps for Synchronized Swimming in the Pool!
College League
Campers participated in World Games. Campers participate in competitions set up by various departments in age group specific events. Each camper goes to one department to compete. This is the first time during the summer where College League and Departments collide, and the girls love it!
