Getting To Camp
(NOTE: Your arrival date is the date listed on your contract! If you have any questions, please email Wendy (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Camp is located in Smithfield, Maine. The closest city is Waterville, Maine, which is approximately nine miles from camp. We are approximately 1 1/2 hours from Portland (75 miles) and approximately 3 hours from Boston (200 miles). When planning your travel to and from camp, please take the following into consideration:
*It may be necessary to arrange an overnight stay in a motel/hostel/hotel on either or both of your arrival and departure trips,
if you plan to use the camp provided transportation.
*You are expected to be at camp for the duration of the time stated on your contract. When planning your return flight, you must take into consideration the date and time your contract ends. If your contract ends on August 11th, then the morning of August 11th is the earliest you will be able to leave camp. It may be better to plan your flight after 4:00PM or for the next morning to allow you traveling time from camp to your departing airport.
Arrival by Plane
Camp will provide transportation from either Boston Logan Airport, the Portland International Jetport (Maine), or the Augusta (Maine) Airport on:
— Monday, June 3
(NOTE: We are only making a pick up at BOSTON LOGAN AIRPORT on this date!)
— Friday, June 7
— Monday, June 10
Your flight must arrive before 12:00 NOON if you are flying into Boston Logan Airport, 2:00 PM if you are flying into the Portland Jetport, or 4:00 PM if you're flying into the Augusta Airport.
There is available parking space for staff to bring your own vehicle to camp. As camp is in a fairly remote location, having your own vehicle at camp can be advantageous. If you decide on this option, please plan to arrive at camp between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Parking is assigned in the staff parking lot. Please let us know ahead of time if you are planning on bringing your own car to camp.
Driving Directions: Take I-95 North to the Waterville/Oakland Exit 127. At the exit ramp, lights take a left onto Route 137 West around the town of Oakland (at the lights in Oakland stay to the right of the Citgo gas station) and drive straight for about 9 miles. Camp Matoaka is situated on the right-hand side about 2 miles after D&L Country Store and Camp Manitou.
There is a Bus Terminal in Waterville, Maine. Camp can pick you up from the terminal on the scheduled day of your arrival.
If you elect to use this option, please advise us of where you will be traveling from and your time of arrival.
As soon as you determine how you will be getting to camp, email the Camp Office at email@example.com and give us the details.
