Directions to Camp

Camp Matoaka is located on East Pond, 9 miles west of the town of Waterville.

By Automobile from Tri-State area:

  • Take your best route to the Massachusetts Turnpike & proceed to Exit #10.
  • Take Route 290 East to Interstate 495 North to Route 95 North.
  • Follow this route directly to the Maine Turnpike towards Augusta.
  • At Augusta, continue North.
  • In approximately 18 miles take Exit 127 (Waterville-Oakland).
  • Follow Rt. 137 West for 9 miles. Stay to right of the Mobil gas station.
  • Approx. 2 miles before camp, D&L Country Store will be on your right.
  • Continue on Rt. 137 & take a right at the Matoaka sign onto Bickford Rd.
  • At the second Camp Matoaka sign take a right onto One Great Place.
  • Visitor parking is located on the main campus in front of the beach volleyball court.

By Automobile from the Greater Boston area:

  • Take your best route to I-95 North & connect with the Maine Turnpike.
  • Follow the Maine Turnpike North towards Augusta.
  • At Augusta, continue North.
  • In approximately 18 miles take Exit 127 (Waterville-Oakland).
  • Follow Rt. 137 West for 9 miles. Stay to right of the Mobil gas station.
  • Approx. 2 miles before camp, D&L Country Store will be on your right.
  • Continue on Rt. 137 & take a right at the Matoaka sign onto Bickford Rd.
  • At the second Camp Matoaka sign take a right onto One Great Place.
  • Visitor parking is located on the main campus in front of the beach volleyball court.

Plane Service:

Camp is an hour and a half drive from Portland International Jetport, an hour drive from Bangor International Airport, and a three-hour drive from Logan International Airport in Boston. American, Delta, and US Airways fly to Bangor, while the Portland Jetport is served by American, Continental, Delta, US Airways, United and Northwest.

Augusta has limited plane service from Boston. The airport is quite small and only accommodates small planes. Portland Airport (75 miles from camp) houses many major carriers with daily nationwide service.
