Trip Day!As much as we love Camp Matoaka, and know that it’s the “grandest place on Earth”, it’s nice to get out and explore other things Maine has to offer. Yesterday all of our campers went on one of three incredible field trips! Our youngest girls in Bunks 8, 9 & 10 boarded two coach buses and traveled to Saco, Maine to Aquaboggin Water Park! There they splashed in the wave pool, enjoyed fun waterslides, ate pizza and played mini-golf! It was a fun outing for all who participated! Bunks 11 and 12 enjoyed a thrilling trip to scenic Boothbay Harbor. There they explored the quaint village town, did some shopping, and ate lunch before boarding a “Cap’n Fishs” boat named the “Island Lady” for a cruise around the stunning harbor. From the boat they caught glimpses of adorable harbor seals and picturesque lighthouses.
Our senior campers, in Bunks 13, 14 & 15 had a bit of a different adventure. First of all, they had the entire camp to themselves all day! They participated in normal activities while the younger girls were gone. But then, just as the others were returning, they headed off to Portland, ME to watch a Portland Sea Dogs baseball game! They snacked on all the baseball classics like hot dogs, hamburgers, and ice cream while cheering on the home team! The day was incredible and we are super proud of our girls. We had numerous compliments from staff members at multiple places off-camp today saying that the Matoaka girls were some of the most polite and well-behaved campers they’ve seen! Way to go girls!
