“There’s No Place Like Home!”
“There’s no place like home…there’s no place like home…there’s no place like…Camp Matoaka!”
Yesterday, our oldest girls, Bunk 15, were treated to their annual off-camp field trip to Maine’s outlet shopping Mecca, Freeport! This tradition goes back many years, and it’s usually the highlight of every girl’s Queen summer. Not only did they shop all afternoon, but they were treated to dinner at the Olive Garden, and then they went to the movies to see the newest Disney/Pixar classic, “Brave”!
While the Queens were off having fun, their friends in Bunk 14 were hard at work back at camp. They were transforming the area surrounding the Queen Cabin into a Wizard of Oz inspired Wonderland! A passing shower disrupted their preparation a bit, but amazingly a rainbow formed over the camp, and all their hard work, as the girls sang “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” after dinner. The timing couldn’t have been better.
Later that evening, each camper in Bunk 15 emerged from the vans, to skip down the yellow brick road towards their bunk, and they were given a ruby-decorated crown! What a special treat to return home to!
This just proves, there’s absolutely no place like home, and no place quite like One Great Place!
