Staff College League has Broken!

Posted June 15, 2012 • Share: Last night, after a day of meetings, tours, and getting-to-know you activities, the entire Matoaka staff met in their Orientation College League teams for the very first time! It’s a fantastic way for the new staff to get a taste of what College League competition is all about at One Great Place. College League is a Camp Matoaka tradition, dating back to the camp’s inaugural summer in 1951. The camp is divided into four equal teams that compete against each other all summer long. Last night, after dinner, each team voted on a team name, team colors, team cheers, as well as forming their stick lines. “Sticks” is a College League game that Matoaka campers play every morning to earn College League points, and it also serves as a great way to take attendance each morning. The staff were thrilled to participate in all the College League preparations, and can’t wait for 9 more days of fierce, yet friendly, competition!
