Healthy Competition! We had another day of healthy competition yesterday! Matoaka campers competed against other camps in swimming, soccer, climbing, and tennis!
We hosted a swim meet today against Vega and Laurel where we had over 30 girls from Matoaka swimming in over 40 different races! It was scored individually, but we earned the most points overall. We had so much fun that we’re ready to do it again on Friday at Vega!
Our under-10 soccer team competed at Vega today, and won both matches in complete shut-outs! We beat Vega 6-0 and beat Laurel 4-0! That’s an impressive ten goals scored by our girls, with none by their opponents. We had an unstoppable offense, and a firm defense! Four campers scored multiple times! We are so proud of our girls!
We also hosted a climbing competition here today against Vega and Laurel. We may have placed third overall, but one of our campers finished first in the under-13 age division, and another received two perfect scores! Despite the loss, our Ropes staff was beaming with pride and excitement over how well the event went. One even said, “It was a WONDERFUL day!”
Some campers travelled over to Camp Vega for a USTA tennis tournament. It’s a two-day competition and several of our girls have advanced to compete on Thursday as well!
After dinner, the competitive spirit continued when College League games were held in teeball, soccer, water polo, Matoaka Ball, gaga, and newcomb! It’s a funny sight to see the senior campers playing teeball, but it was actually pretty intense!
