Every Day is an Adventure!

Every day spent at Camp Matoaka is an adventure! Whether a camper is riding a horse for the first time, climbing the rock wall, or going tubing, there’s an adventure around every corner here.

Today, we had about 40 senior campers travel with staff to the Magic Falls Rafting Company for a thrilling white water rafting trip down the Kennebec River. It’s a fantastic trip that encourages campers to face their fears and work as a team, and experience the thrill of a lifetime!

We also had a series of intercamp CMGL tennis matches going on yesterday against Camp Laurel and Camp Vega. The under 15 campers competed at Matoaka, the under 13s went to Vega, and the under 10s played at Laurel. We had a lot of fantastic wins, and some very close losses.

We also graciously welcomed our friends from “The Maine Camp Experience” to our home today. The MCE represents a community of premier camp owners and directors of the finest camps in the country who are dedicated to providing children and their families the highest quality summer camp experience.

They brought a professional film crew and captured footage for promotional uses, celebrating the benefits of sending kids to camp. The crew was on-hand all day filming both candid footage, as well as interviewing our campers and staff. It was fun having a little dose of Hollywood here at One Great Place!

For evening activity we held a General Rec period. Even though we have two of these each day, there’s something special about participating in your favorite activities at dusk. There’s a different atmosphere, and your favorite activities are just more fun. There are many adventures to be had during the day, but the evenings bring a whole new opportunity for adventure.  During this period we had practice sessions for a sailing regatta, a riding meet, and for the cheerleading team. While simultaneously our camper/counselor dodgeball tournament started! Our campers accomplished SO much!
