A Day of Firsts!

Posted June 26, 2013 • Share: Yesterday marked everyone’s first day of following their regular activity schedules! Campers followed their individualized schedule that was catered to their own interests. It was a landmark day of “firsts” for Matoaka. Our first tennis classes under our brand-new Tennis Pavillion were a huge success! We also held our first Powder-Puff football and Disc Golf classes in our Landsports department. And for the first time, Cheerleading took the field as it’s own standalone department. Later that evening we held our very first “Highlighter Dance Party”. The Rec Hall was transformed under the glow of many black lights which illuminated the girls’ neon and white clothing. They were given highlighter pens to decorate their skin and clothing which stood out brightly under the lighting. Everyone was glowing! There was a DJ playing a fantastic mix of upbeat music, both classics like “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and newer hits like “I Don’t Care”.  It was an incredible night that these girls will remember for a lifetime.
