ALUMNI
Welcome Alumni!

Greetings...

Welcome to our Camp Matoaka Alumni website! Here you will be kept up to date on the most recent happenings at Matoaka. For most of you, it probably has been a while since you have been to camp. Some perhaps since the 50th reunion, others longer. So we would like to share with you all that has been taking place on the shores of East Lake.

Update...

In the fall of 2004, Leslie and Jason Silberman became the owners and directors of Camp Matoaka.

Leslie spent her childhood summers at Matoaka while Jason was across the lake at Camp Manitou for boys. In the summer of 2001, Leslie and Jason finally met at a camp social during staff orientation. They were married in the fall of 2004 and currently reside in Natick, Massachusetts during the winter months.

Leslie attended Matoaka as a camper for six summers, her last year culminating with the honor of being a College League Captain. She was also a counselor, swim instructor and advisor for two summers. Leslie has the proud distinction of being a second generation Matoaka camper. Her mother Sharman attended camp for many summers while Matoaka was under the direction of its founders, Midge and Joe Nathanson. Leslie earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Sciences from the University of Vermont, and a Master of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Massachusetts General Hospital of Health Professions. Leslie is also a certified Reading Specialist. Leslie is presently employed as a speech-language pathologist in the Walpole Public School System.

Jason has been associated with Camp Manitou, our brother camp, for 20 years, first as a camper, then as a counselor and director, as well as owner from 1997 to 2003. Jason now oversees camp operations for Camp Matoaka both in season and during the winter. Jason sits on the New England Board of Directors and is an active visitor for the American Camp Association, assisting in the accreditation of other camps around New England, as well as being a member of the ACA's Value-Added committee. Jason earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Syracuse University.

Together, Leslie and Jason look forward to sharing the Matoaka traditions that have enriched the lives of so many campers. Leslie and Jason understand the camping environment, and bring a great deal of experience, organization, enthusiasm, warmth and stability to the Matoaka community.

We welcome you...

We welcome you any time to come and see all of the improvements and changes that have been made and also to enjoy the old familiar distinguishing features that make Camp Matoaka your camp: The pink camper cabins, the clear lake, the cool mornings and the gorgeous sunsets over the grove area. What fond memories!

As always, we look forward to hearing from you and hope you will be able to visit us in the near future to relive the "Matoaka Magic" and those wonderful carefree days of past summers.
